Did you know that May is Cystic Fibrosis Awareness Month. Cystic Fibrosis is a lethal, genetic disease that affects close to 40,000 children and adults in just the United States alone. These patients often need extensive medical care to help combat this complicated illness, including extensive use of IV antibiotics to help treat recurring lung infections. These treatments are often given in the hospital or infusion suite, but a 2016 study from Greece looking at Pediatric CF patients has been shown these treatments to be as effective when administered in the home , while also reducing costs and having a positive impact on overall quality of life.
